Knee Pain Treatment in Mooresville, NC

Knee pain does not always mean something serious, but it should not be ignored. As the body changes over time, the knee often feels the impact first. Stiffness, soreness, or reduced movement can develop gradually without a clear injury.

Dr. John Ashcraft, DC, has treated many patients in Mooresville with knee pain caused by movement issues, joint stress, and alignment problems. At ChiroLife Wellness Center, care focuses on understanding how the knee works with the rest of the body and addressing the root cause of pain, not just the symptoms.

Your first visit is focused on listening, careful evaluation, and creating a clear plan that supports safe movement and long-term knee health. Call us at (704) 218-9161 to book an appointment.

What Are the Causes of Knee Pain?

Knee pain can come from a variety of causes, such as injury to the knee joint, repetitive strain, or muscle weakness.

Runner’s knee is one of the more common conditions we see, and it can involve popping or clicking. Other causes of knee pain include IT band syndrome, plantar fasciitis, flat feet, high arches, and pelvic imbalances, which can also lead to altered gait patterns.

Types of Knee Conditions We Treat

Different knee conditions require different treatment approaches.

Common conditions we treat are:

  • Runner’s knee – Pain behind the kneecap due to misalignment in the knee joint
  • Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) – This can create irritation along the outside of the knee, especially during running or repetitive bending.
  • Meniscus and ligament tears
  • Knee joint dislocations
  • Knee instability

How Do We Diagnose the Root Cause of Knee Pain?

Dr. John Ashcraft starts with a hands-on physical exam. He will evaluate your range of motion to check for restrictions. Soft tissues, including the muscles, tendons, and ligaments are also assessed. He checks for changes in tone, texture, temperature, and tension, comparing side to side and above and below the knee joint.

Dr. Ashcraft also checks joint mobility. A joint will either be normal, hypomobile, which means locked up and not moving enough, or hypermobile, meaning moving too much because something else is not working correctly.

Nerve scans or thermal scans may be used to detect nerve imbalances beneath the surface. At ChiroLife Wellness Center, we also use soft wave therapy, which is very effective for diagnosing and managing extremity conditions such as knee pain.

Knee Pain Treatment Plan

At ChiroLife Wellness Center, the treatment plan is designed around your specific condition and movement needs.

FDA-approved methods like soft wave therapy, soft tissue release techniques, and extremity manipulation are used. Soft wave therapy works by activating your body’s own stem cells to repair and regenerate damaged tissue, without the need for stem cell injections.

Our chiropractors use a combination of manual, instrument-assisted, and drop-table adjustments to manage knee pain, based on what your body responds to best.

I’ve been experiencing sciatic pain for years and since going to Chirolife regularly, I’ve noticed a huge difference in how little I experience it now, even with a growing tummy.

The team takes the time to thoroughly explain your individualized treatment plan and strategies to improve your health (beyond the standard stretching/exercise
